Tricky conditions at Oulton Park for Round 10 Superstock1000 made for an interesting weekend.
Very wet on Friday for practice. Qualifying on Saturday was pretty much dry with a few damp patches, managed to match my PB lap time from earlier in the year putting me 30th on the grid. Hoping to improve again in race 1 as it was fully dry. The start of the race was full of mistakes, pushing too much in the wrong places and unfortunately running off track ended up finishing 33rd. Very disappointing.
Was really hoping for a dry Sunday to make up for race 1, but the heavens opened. By the time of our race the track looked like it might dry but we decided to go full wets, same as most of the field. After a lap or 2 I was kicking myself wishing we had gone for a dry rear. Having not rode a big bike on a dry track with wets, I wasn’t really sure how hard I could push. Just kept building every lap, finishing 24th. Overall pretty happy to come away with the bike in one piece, considering the conditions.
Looking forward to a few weeks off before coming back strong at the final round of BSB at Brands GP.
